What is the Barûle Foundation?

The Barûle Foundation is a young, energetic nonprofit organization that is working to reduce the housing and life disadvantages. Founded in 2007, we accomplish our goal by supporting and advancing the concept and philosophy of production, a proven strategy that empowers the community’s poorest people to pull themselves from their difficult economic situation by starting, expanding or sustaining very small businesses. We also provide the rural poor with means of communication and access to vital information through technology.

What does the Barûle Foundation do?

We provide funding, technology, technical assistance, training, information services and develop affordable housing projects for low income families, as well as developing productive programs for the youth. How did the Barûle Foundation get started?

We sprang from a rich heritage – The Kingdom of Barûle's Movement and Giunëur Bomani Barûle Môsi, the founder and managing director –the King– of the Kingdom of Barûle's Movement. Credited with launching the Kingdom of Barûle's Movement, Giunëur first experienced the promise of fighting for the social disadvantages of his people in 1990 by making small in-kind contributions from his own pockets to very poor people, specially children in Quibdó - Chocó (Colombia). In launching the Barûle Foundation in 2007, Giunëur challenged us to deliver the philosophy of production in a broad manner. The Barûle Foundation was established by Giunëur Bomani Barûle Môsi, his wife Alexandra Ines Môsi and Miguel Ricardo Succar Chediac, our founding fathers.

How poor is the people you serve with your programs?

For many, it is hard to imagine just how poor our clients are. Many live on just a dollar or so a day and often families eke out an existence on just half of what many of us spend on a cup of gourmet coffee each day. Our clients are literally struggling to live from day to day.

How can I get involved?

In order to extend the reach of the Philosophy of Production to more of the community's impoverished families, the Barûle Foundation relies largely on private donations. The Barûle Foundation’s community of individual donors, foundations and institutions is a tremendous network. But we need many more to fulfill a goal of reaching as many families as possible.
